Nodal Officer AADVAITH CHAVAN  immediately wrote a letter to the Honorable Director General of Police of Maharashtra State

Subject : To take legal action against those who defame digital media journalists by spreading false messages in the name of former Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajvardhan Rathore through social media, WhatsApp. Former Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Col. Rajwardhan Rathore, has been viralizing the group of journalists by writing messages on several groups under the headline “Action will be taken against bogus journalists”. We would like to inform you that digital media journalists have been asked to regulate all the provisions of the Press Council of India through official notification as well as digital media guidelines 2021 for all digital media journalists across the country. Recently, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has also sought information from journalists from all digital media in India. In short, digital media journalists are given the status of mainstream journalists. Colonel Rajwardhan Rathore has been named as the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting in this viral message. In fact, Colonel Rajwardhan Rathore was the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting from September 2017 to May 2019. The present Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting is Hon’ble Prakash Javadekar and misleading information is being spread using the names of former Union Ministers and this is a very serious matter.

I personally contacted the office of former Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Col. Rajwardhan Rathore, and asked him if he had made such a statement three years ago. Digital media journalists do not get any kind of government advertisements. All digital media journalists make a living by taking advertisements from professionals as well as some local traders. However, this kind of false viral message has left many journalists working in digital media frustrated and many are being unnecessarily discredited in the society. Digital media has been working tirelessly for the last two years to convey real information to the people. Digital media journalists have also done a lot of good news about government decisions or frontline workers. Digital media has been working to provide updated information to the citizens even when they are not getting any kind of government facility. Strict legal action should be taken against all those who spread false messages about digital media journalists, so that in future no one will spread any kind of fake message through free social media.
